Floodbase

Flood monitoring and a 45-year US flood record from satellites and sensors, used to build parametric flood cover.

Floodbase, founded in 2013, monitors flooding by combining satellite data and other sensors, and keeps a 45-year record of flood history in the United States. Insurers, reinsurers and carriers use the data on its parametric platform to design and price flood cover that pays out on measured flood events, including through a quoting API, and the company maps flood events for response. It works with governments and municipalities, banks and mortgage lenders, transport and logistics firms and utilities, at scales from a city block to a country. Pricing is not published.
